There is nothing more painful, than experiencing a heart break. They say dealing with physical wounds is easy, because you know with time and medicines the wounds will heal, but how can you come to terms with a heart break. Your heart has its own way of dealing with heartbreak, there is no given time frame as such, but then there are ways in which you can get over a breakup.
Here are a few ways in which you can get over a breakup :-
- Express yourself
After a breakup, it is very important to express yourself no matter what the emotion is, whether you’re feeling angry, or you just feel like crying your heart out. Vent it out, the more you bottle things up, the more difficult it is going to be. Even if it means, locking yourself in the room and crying do it.
Crying is one of the best ways of dealing with breakups, as it helps you get the load off your chest and reduces stress and depression greatly.
- Out of sight, out of mind
While dealing with a break up all you can think of, is that person, but it is important to zone out for a while in order to overcome a heartbreak. The more you see and think of your ex, the more difficult it is going to be for you to get over that person. Block that person and avoiding staying in touch with that person. Try not to seek any information about them.
- Keep yourself busy
“An empty mind is a devil’s workshop” and trust me, it is. Your focus might be all over the place initially, but it is important for you to set a goal for yourself and completely focus on it. The busier you are, the easier it will be for you to get over a heartbreak. Even in your spare time, make sure you are doing something. Spend time with friends, learn something new, travel. Do whatever it takes to keep your mind busy. Avoid spending too much alone time.
- Let go and Move on
It is normal to resent the person that broke your heart. Angry and hatred towards the person is normal, but nothing is better than making peace with your heart break. It is important to forgive the person. The sooner you understand this, the better.
Quit dwelling in the past, rather think and focus on your future and move ahead in life. It is important to understand that things cannot go back to the way they were so the best thing to do is to carry the lesson learnt and move on.
- Pamper yourself
A person’s self confidence and self esteem tends to drop after a break up, people tend to feel worthless and therefore it is important to pamper yourself. When you are feeling low, it is important to do the things that make you feel good about yourself because if you feel good about yourself, you will be able to deal with the break up in a better manner.
You can either indulge in a box of chocolates; watch your favorite funny movie, indulge in a spa session or go to club.
- Confide in someone
Confiding in people can help you feel better. It is important to talk to someone, someone who can understand you and be there for you. You can confide in a friend, family member or a relative. You can also visit a counselor if you want.
